To
prospective students and their parents
Your move to Northallerton College
represents the final stage of your pre-16
education and this brochure has been put
together to explain to you and your parents
what is involved.
Key Stage 4 marks the start of a period
where you begin to plan for your career. As
well as continuing to study key subjects for
public examinations when you are 16, you
also make choices about optional courses.
You will find in these pages the information
you need to help you make the most
appropriate choice for you, whether you are
choosing a particular subject because you
enjoy it or because you think it will help
you later on with the career you have in
mind.
We should like you to come to the college
with two main targets: firstly, to do as
well as you possibly can, and secondly, to
enjoy it. Therefore, we are anxious to
ensure you achieve your full potential. This
will be done by providing you with
individual targets in every subject.
Progress against these targets will be
closely monitored throughout Years 10 and
11. These targets will be based on past
performance and we will be looking to see
how you can achieve or do better than your
targets.
If you have any uncertainties about the
choices you have to make or any other aspect
of college life, please ask your parents to
come with you to talk to us about it. This
is what we are here for.
We are looking forward to meeting you very
soon, hopefully at our Open Evening on
Tuesday 17 January 2012.
