Hannah Jaques - Geography

“Geography is a subject that not only helps you develop academic knowledge but also reinforces skills that can be used in a variety of subject areas. It covers a wide range of topics with interesting issues in both the physical and human elements of Geography. Within the physical study you will have an opportunity to learn about remarkable features such as rivers and glaciers. This knowledge can then be applied practically through exciting field studies, which allow you to understand the topic with a hands on approach. The human geography lets you explore topics that affect us today and I have particularly enjoyed the controversial issues you get to study. The teaching methods range from class debates and discussion, to studying individually. This is good as it helps you learn in many ways and prepares you for university.”

“I think Northallerton College has a lovely atmosphere, with a very friendly environment and is a great place to study. There are lots of opportunities to get actively involved in post 16, such as student council, being a peer mentor or a house captain, and this will help when applying to higher education or going on to
employment. I think Northallerton College is great in that it offers not only a good education but also lots of extra-curricular prospects and I would definitely suggest considering here to study.”
