This consists of a single TWO HOUR EXAM which contains two sections. This exam will be taken in June.

Formal Title: G322 Key Concepts (TV Drama). Ignore the radio option.

Section A: Textual Analysis and Representation

An ‘unseen’ moving image extract is shown at the beginning of the exam. The extract will last around five minutes and will be taken from a BRITISH TV DRAMA. The extract is chosen by OCR and it will be shown four times.

Candidates then answer ONE COMPULSORY TEXTUAL ANALYSIS QUESTION.

Camera Angle, Shot, Movement and Composition,
Mise-en-Scene,
Editing,
Sound.
*(There are some order differences of this formula in the OCR syllabus).

Technical concepts will also be linked to the Key Theoretical Concept of RESPRESENTATION e.g. Gender or Age, Ethnicity, Sexuality, Class and status, Physical ability / disability, Regional identity.

Section B: Institutions and Audiences

Answer ONE question based on a case study of ONE specific media industry from a list which includes various media. Northallerton students will choose FILM.
