Unit 2
Henry
V - William Shakespeare

The most
significant unit is to enable you to demonstrate your understanding
of our chosen play, Henry V (AO2i). This
aim is achieved when you focus on the methods that Shakespeare
uses to present the narrative, themes and characters – the
way he structures the play and the language that he uses
(AO3). It is a coursework unit and so you should not expect
to be taught as intensively as if it were to be tested in
a formal examination. It is essential that you develop your
own individual opinions and judgements (AO4). You need, therefore,
to choose your task or title carefully. As it is a coursework
unit, you should pay particular attention to the clarity
and effectiveness of your expression and argument (AO1).
If
you follow this advice you will achieve the four Assessment
Objectives listed below. On further pages we have reproduced
the advice from the chief examiners for the coursework units,
giving you guidance on how to be successful in this unit.
In your assignment you will be required to:
| AO1 |
8% |
communicate
clearly the knowledge, understanding and
insight appropriate to literary study, using appropriate
terminology and accurate written expression; |
| AO2i |
10% |
respond
with knowledge and understanding to literary
texts of different types and periods; |
| AO3 |
7% |
show
detailed understanding of the ways in which the
writer’s choices of form, structure and language shape
meanings; |
| AO4 |
5% |
articulate
informed independent opinions and judgements. |
