Applying to Oxford or
Cambridge
For students who wish to apply to Oxford
or Cambridge we follow a structured
programme to give them the best possibility
of a successful application.
• Potential students are identified using
their GCSE grades (students ideally need a
minimum of 5 A*/A grades at GCSE in order to
apply)
• Early in Y12 we invite speakers from
Oxford and Cambridge to provide students
with guidance about making their
application, Summer School opportunities and
preparing for their interview
• Students attend the annual Oxbridge
Conference in March of Y12
• Students who decide to apply are given
detailed support and guidance from their
personal tutor and a subject specialist in
preparing their application
• Students who apply are offered subject
specific one to one coaching sessions to
prepare them for entry tests and interviews
• If called for interview applicants are
advised to take advantage of interview
practice with subject specialists and
members of the governing body
